Default trim tabs Stock 27 Magnum

I need some tips . . and input . .

I'm doing a bunch of work to the 68 27 Magnum I bought last fall in the hope to use it this summer. After not being used for 10 + years I feel like I'm building a boat with all the stuff I'm into . . and have a part in the process . .

The boat came with some small trim tabs and no pump, I have removed these, and am would like to know if I need tabs on this boat. It is an original twin 350 SBC with Volvo 250 drives. These will get new Solas SS props.

My use will be on Lake Winnipesaukee for this summer . . .

I have set of Bennetts, but really wonder if they're worth it . . although they are karger than what I removed.

I would put tabs on, do your drives have power trim ? Most older Volvo don't and getting on plane with with the drives on the 3rd trim pin it will be harder without tabs. I just bought at set of Merc tabs on ebay for my new Magnum project, it looks like she had Bennett tabs on at one time. This Mag has 270 Volvo drives so I'm in the same boat as you. And if you want to cruse at lower speeds, tabs will keep the bow down. And If you want to fly them in the rough, just add a little tab and hang on !!!!

I have a 78 Starfire with TRS drives . The tabs are nice to keep things calm otherwise they are not necessary . I have Merc tabs of that era .

On a Trs boat you have power trim. Try triming her out were you get the best speed,,, stop, then try getting on plane with the tabs up, thats how it is with a Volvo boat all the time without powertrim, and tabs. I have had Magnums with both, this was my Trs Mag, Back In The Day.

Trim tabs are like tits, the bigger they are, the more fun you can have.
