is your deck flat or does it have a arch in it? Also is it cored?

cool, not to tough. you might want to lay up a piece of flat fiberglass seperatly and graft it in. other option is to back up the opening with a waxed piece of something flat like starboard then scarf back the edge and build up the laminate in the opening. You'll have to be creative on the edge to minimize end "butt" type joints.
