After you get the main platform done, your basically just trying to "joist" it from the bottom and tie it in with the sides (hope that makes sense) you dont need a whole lot of them maybe two full width ones space evenly. You could also run them front to back if it helps with mounting and attaching the ladder, either or will work.
Ok... not exactly sure what you mean by T joint, or joist it.

I was thinking.... 2"x3/4" strips that are 48" long. And using 3 of these on each side of the deck spaced at 2" from the front and back edge, and the other in the middle of the deck. With the decks being 66" wide, that would leave about 9" from each edge on the side. (should I complete to the full width? If so, could I use 2 pieces? or should it be one piece?)

I will be using stainless steel brackets (1 1/2"x 1/8" or 3/16" with 1" tubing to hold the shape) (4 per side) that will use these three runners to mount to the boat. In your opinion, will this be enough to support the deck, and the many people that many be on it. of should I go to 2" flat steel, with 1 1/2" tube? Any suggestions would be great.

Last question for this time around..
With the expense I will have into this project, I have decided that I may want to make a mold with fiberglass.

What do you reccomend for making a mold, and at what schedule?

Thanks Again

Using marine foam is the final weight of this thing going to be more or less than a traditional teak platform?

This is the marine board from General Plastics ( link above)
15lb density FR-7115
3/4" 4'x8' sheet 30 lbs.
1" 4'x8' sheet 40 lbs.

20lb density FR-7120
3/4" 4'x8' sheet 40 lbs.
1" 4'x8' sheet 53.33 lbs.

My rough calculations are
60lbs core material (2 x 3/4" sheet TR-7115)
65lbs resin (approx 7 to 8 gals resin at 8lbs/gal)
25lbs fiberglass cloth (approx)
80lbs brackets (8 x 10lbs each)

total weight 230lbs +-15%...
This should be a close weight for this platform, and on this big of boat, I dont beleive it will be any problems.

As far as comparison to a teak deck, I am not sure of the weight for a teak deck.

Another question.... I ran into someone who has done fiberglass in the past, and they asked me why I just don't use an inexpensive chop gun, and use a spool of fiberglass?

I have found a gun, and have seen others. http://cgi.ebay.com/Fiberglass-Chopp...item3a53a77480

And the fiberglass filament seems to be much less exspensive...

Would this be a better idea, or not??

Again, thanks a ton.
