I've seen this done with a couple of Bass Boats, one had a top simular to a flat bed cover on a truck bed, it went up on hinges, I think the sides stayed in place and the back had door that flipped around and fastened to the side while launching.

The other had what looked like a hard fiberglass cover made to fit the top of the boat, that lifted on and off. It looked real heavy, it looked like another boat upside down when on the boat.

I guess these Bass Boat guys have to worry about locking up all of their gear while traveling to toury's and such.

I've thought about a hard cover that could go on over the cockpit and fit tightly enough to not let any water in, or you could use srink wrap tape around the edges. But this leaves the rest of the boat out in the open.

I've thought about this before also, to the extreme of even having a huge trailer (semi) to pull the boat and truck (short truck) into while traveling.

Sorry to snoop into this section and post, hope it is OK

Only problem with the PACE unit for small boats is that the roof is fixed. If you have a steep ramp once you get the boat in far enough to back off, you'll run the motor or your head into the roof before you get out the door.

Logistically the comment about semi-enclosed - front/top/sides 1/3 or 1/2 way back is likely the best route, unless you go a full 13'6" high for plenty of headroom.
