Default Looking For Pat

Pat,
A reminder that I purchased the 25' tantrum that was built for Smith Bro Racing. I have been trying to get rid of the porpoising that I get from this boat and was going to have the hull looked at. What is the specs for my hull, hook, no hook and if any hook what would you of put into it when you built it?
I'm trying to get this boat to settle down with out loosing any of my valuable speed.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

That was a great boat. I bought it from Pete Smith. It would porpoise at wide open throttle about 77 mph. Remember it is only a 25 footer.... At those speeds the only thing that is in the water is the prop....There was one thing that I used to do when it would porpoise like that..........slow down and drag some tab...

I know Gordo has said his 25 AT gets a little porpoise in dead calm water. He said it goes away with a little chop in the water.

Thunderdan,
Good to hear from you. I'm looking for perfection with this boat. I want my cake and eat it to. I can't believe that the porpoising can't be dialed out of it and that is the road that I'm on.
I appreciate your feed back and any thing that you can add on coming up with the answer to my problem I would appreciate it. That is why I'm looking into the hull.
Thanks,
Mike

Griff,
Gordo does experience some porpoising with his on smooth water. I have mine all the time at upper speeds. Drop tabs scrub speed. That takes all the fun out of it trying to go fast.
Looking for Pat to let me know what they do on factory hulls on these boats and how they perform.

Mike,

Not quite sure what to tell you other than make sure the keel and strakes are straight. If you have a box, which I think you do, maybe it is upsetting the apple cart.

Blane,

In one word: 'nicely'. Quite honestly it is a total hot rod.

Now, are those tix into the show or tix on a plane?

Pat,
I removed the box last year do to the fact that I thought it would eliminate the porpoising problem but it didn't.
The question that I have for you is should the hull have any hook or rocker in it, either side? There is some hook in the port side but not in the starboard side. I'm looking to get the hull back to Active Thunder standards.
Could you get back to me on this?
Thanks,
Mike
