Avoid Wash. DC after 2:30 in the afternoon. Traffic is heavy.

it ads about 50 miles but would it be better to get on 522 s to 81 s to 64 e. that would avoid 270 and 95 in washington. is washington ok if we hit it around noon?

A couple years ago I went to Cleveland to pick-up a 30 ft searay....that is the way we went to avoid DC.......you'll be better off 66/17/95.
Richmond traffic is minimal, I'd take 295 around the eastern side of Richmond if your passing through during 4-6 rush hour....otherwise straight through town is fine.
