A couple years ago I went to Cleveland to pick-up a 30 ft searay....that is the way we went to avoid DC.......you'll be better off 66/17/95.
Richmond traffic is minimal, I'd take 295 around the eastern side of Richmond if your passing through during 4-6 rush hour....otherwise straight through town is fine.

Scott, call me. I have tried every way possible and a few I wish I didn't. There is no good way to get there, no matter which way you go you have to go thru some mountains. Make sure your brakes are good on your trailer for the hills and the traffic.
Make sure you go to the correct Hopewell. There is 3 of them in Va.

so i should just stay home and do boyne thunder? iam just a little afraid to call you for directions, something tells me that we somehow will be finishing up two days on the road and melinda will look at me and say did that sign just say boyne city 10 miles? uh yea jb gave me directions.
I go down 77 to Beckley WV and then go east on 64. It's 40 miles farther but a lot less traffic.
If you do go that way make sure you fill up at Beckley because it is deserted across there and no place to fuel for about 140 miles
