Just bought a 37 w/ 700/NXT package, have prop question?
 

I just picked up a 37 with 700's and NXT's, but the boat is running bravo style props. Why hasn't anybody ever put a real set of 5 blade #6 props on the boat and tried it out?

It all depends on what you want out of the boat. Remember the ATs are a bit heavier than the other boats in their class due to full cabins and tons of options. Trying to eek out every last .1223535333666 mph isn't high on some folks priority list. IIRC, the X-dimension on that one is pretty high. As such, you may need to add some spacers in order to make true surface props deep enough to bite. Post some pics. It's been a long time since I've seen or been on that boat.

FWIW I put a set of 17x36 5 blade Herings on mine. Took a few to plane off but it ran great and pulled hard from mid-range to 90++

That was only a test though. Never found the perfect set for lack of water-time with that boat. They say the 16.25 or 16.5 x34 would be the best and I think that is likely a great fit.

I was also thinking that the bravo props might be easier on the trannies and drives than a real 5 blade clever.

There is probably limited data on putting a true #6 prop on AT's, but I wonder if B blades or anybody has some real world data from some other boats that have run both bravo and #6 props on NXT's.

If the bravo props run so well on NXT's why don't you see it on other boat?

It's all about setup.
Look how much weight is forward of the COG/step on a 39TG with staggered 700s/NXTs vs. a 37AT with side/side same power setup. The boat's ability to bite the water and carry all of that weight is TOTALLY different, and things you play with are X-dimension and Prop "bite" (types/diameter/pitch/cup). I would highly recommend giving Brett/BBlades a call to talk through some options once you establish a baseline on our exact setup.

The boat is coming with a pair of 16.25 and a pair of 16.75, he said the 16.25 had a higher top end, but the 16.75 was a better every day prop. I guess I will see....

What happened and what props did you try out?

That was where it ran 105. It was 10 years ago so the details aren't clear but I believe it was a 35 pitch.

Many beers ago!!! LOL Ok, I will mess around with it and see what happens. My biggest concern is getting the best cruise speed out of the boat.
