Question 27 Advantage

Looking for any input on the boat. Looked at one at our boat show and it seemed very well built. Could not get over the size of the cabin. Salesman told me 70-72 mph with 496 HO?

Thanks Jan

Hi Jan You could e-mail Chris Gibbons He will be able to tell you about the boat. I am not sure if he is in or out of town. But I know he checks in everyday. Good Luck on your boat search, Forrest

I own a 98 27' Victory. I was like you and looked at it at the boat show and the made a decision shortly after. I got the open bow with the cabin in the middle and I love it. For power I got the 454 mag mpi. Honestly, right now I can get about 62-64 depending on weight. I know other people that have the same boat with the 502 and they are getting about 68-70. I usually boat in Long Beach, Ca and make trips out to Havasu. It works great for all of my needs. Hopefully soon I can add a supercharger. If you hve any more questions I would be happy to answer them.

Hey Jan,
I also love my 2001 27' Victory. I also have the open-bow version and the 496 MAG HO (425hp).

I was out at Havasu last weekend and the conditions were great to do a speed test. 70 degree air temp and slight chop on the water. The wife & kids were taking a nap, so I got rid of some extra ballast.

With 40 gallons of fuel and my 200lb butt, the best I could do was 63 mph. I run a 22P Bravo1 prop at 5000 RPM WOT. I once tried a 24P, but lost a couple hundred RPM and a few MPH. I have calculated the prop slip to be right in there at about 10-12%

I also plan on the supercharger thing this year to reach near 75 MPH.

The best thing about the Advantage, other than the quality of workmanship, cabin layout, and hull style, is the ride. I LOVE this boat. It's not the fastest hull out there, but you can't beat the ride and the overall look !!!!!!.

Here is a pix of my baby at the Havasu sandbar.

The 496 MAG HO is a great motor, but too new right now to take advantage (no pun intended) of any great bolt-ons.

Anyway, let me know how the deal turns out.

Regards,

Christopher Gibbons

Hey Forrest,
Just got the amp the other day. Still no word from Jon regarding the subs. I will to drop him a line soon. The wiring is complete and the 2 sets of Babbs are in. Just need to connect it all up.

If you talk to Jon, maybe ask him about the subs.

Talk to you soon...............CJG.
