Hey Jan,
I also love my 2001 27' Victory. I also have the open-bow version and the 496 MAG HO (425hp).
I was out at Havasu last weekend and the conditions were great to do a speed test. 70 degree air temp and slight chop on the water. The wife & kids were taking a nap, so I got rid of some extra ballast.
With 40 gallons of fuel and my 200lb butt, the best I could do was 63 mph. I run a 22P Bravo1 prop at 5000 RPM WOT. I once tried a 24P, but lost a couple hundred RPM and a few MPH. I have calculated the prop slip to be right in there at about 10-12%
I also plan on the supercharger thing this year to reach near 75 MPH.
The best thing about the Advantage, other than the quality of workmanship, cabin layout, and hull style, is the ride. I LOVE this boat. It's not the fastest hull out there, but you can't beat the ride and the overall look !!!!!!.
Here is a pix of my baby at the Havasu sandbar.

The 496 MAG HO is a great motor, but too new right now to take advantage (no pun intended) of any great bolt-ons.
Anyway, let me know how the deal turns out.
