04 Advantage 30' Victory
New Victory Owner

After years of waiting, we planned to buy a new 28 Victory but when we had the actual test ride (before building) it didn't suit our needs SO...

The wife (God bless her soul) saw a 30 in the showroom and fell in love with it. Of course it streched our budget but that didn't concern her much. We ended up ordering the twin 6.2 Merc's.

What are your opinions about the boat? the powertrain? everything else?

Look forward to seeing y'all at the regatta.

Your going to love it. It's a great boat. We absolutely love ours. I think you made a wise choice going with twins. They really help with maneuverability. I think your going to find that you have plenty of power. This is a very fast hull. We picked up ours in March and have about 15 hours on it. Let me know if you have any questions at all.

Well, we went and did it - we upgraded to twin 496 HO's.

Anyone know what speed that would give us? Advantage says to look for "a solid 85"

PS how come there aren't many posts here?

Congratulations.....

First of all, you're going to LOVE this boat !!!!

Well.......Here is what you can expect.....

I'll assume you have an open bow, if not, the performance will be a tiny bit better.

We'll assume 800 lbs of human & 500 lbs of fuel (60 gal or so). Your boat weighs about 5,200 lbs dry. 1.5:1 drives. The 496 MAG HO's put out about 418 HP, not 425 HP.

In good conditions with this payload and the right prop, about a 30P, you will run about 75 MPH WOT, in a bit better conditions, with a lighter payload, you'll see 80 MPH WOT.

Every boat seems to run a bit different, even with the same bow configuration & same power, but you have an honest 80 MPH boat.

I remember Hot Boat testing the 30' Victory last year and I'll try to find the issue and let you know.

Here are a couple more basic stat's:

The dual 496 MAG HO set-up in the 30' will accelerate better than many of the boats in its class with the same power.

0 to 30 MPH in about 5 seconds.

0 to 40 MPH in about 8 seconds.

0 to 50 MPH in about 10 seconds.

65 MPH at about 4,000 RPM, which is great for a big "V".

I have a 27' Victory with a single Whipple Charged 496 MAG HO at 620 HP and I ran 73.7 WOT on GPS this weekend and thats about 13.7 MPH faster than my wife likes. This was with 70 gal of fuel and 400 LBS of human. This winter I hope to get to 85 MPH with a new motor set-up.

The 30 is a great rough water boat and you'll be going 60 to 70 in some nasty stuff while the rest of them are slowing down a bit.

So in closing, expect and be happy with 75 MPH at WOT, with a real-life-payload and you won't be disappointed. Most people brag about their boat speed but don't tell you they GPS'd it in December with 2 gal of fuel and only them in the boat.

Regards,

CJG.

When HotBoat tested the 30 open-bow w/ HO's it ran 78 but they said that they had 100lbs worth of fuel and people. Your boat on a good run with less weight should run 80-82. Or 27 runs 73 with 4 people and a half tank of gas any day at havasu and topped out at 74 at Castaic.

30' Victory - Jan 2002 Performance Evaluation

The Hot Boat issue with the 30' Victory evaluation is January of 2002.

Yep....it ran 78.1 on radar with 1,000 lbs of fuel & human in poor water.

Like I said, I would anticipate 75 or so and be happy when you hit 78 in August with a bunch of fuel & people. If your expecting 85, you'll be disappointed when it doesn't make it.

ToMorrow44,

What motor & HP are you running to hit 73 MPH, you must be running 620 HP or greater as I am.

Actually, 75 is quite enough for us. If I want to go faster, I borrow my buddies 100mph+ HTM. I wanted to check the "sales pitch" against real world info. Thanks to you for your info. We look forward to meeting you at the regatta. If I can post a pic of the drawing, I will.

I'm out in Havasu every other weekend or so, so give me a call. I'll be out for the next 3 weekends in a row.
