Trim Tabs on a 26NSX?>?>?
Greetings all.
Ive got an American Offshore 26. It takes longer than I feel it should, and longer than all of the performance tests state, to get on plane. Im running a 496 w a BX Stern Power drive. Not sure of the prop pitch, but its more of a top end prop than low end, if that makes any sense. My question is, would trim tabs help with this? Thanks.

I've been told that Stern Power drives are 'surface drives'. Could that be contributing to it? What is a 'surface drive' anyway? Im not sure of the gear ratio, or the prop for that matter. But I'll find out this weekend. Thanks.

because i was thinking with the idea that you had bravo drives... i missed the stern power... how many blades on on your props.? are they round ear or cleaver ?.... what is the diameter of your props... your setup is completely different than what i was giving you examples of. Also the transmission is going to rob some hp also...

Long plane times are par for the course with a surface drive. The positive is that get a really cool roost and great top end. You'll find it difficult to install trim tabs on your boat due to the notched transom. Dana makes a set for the notched transom boats. Not cheap but they're pretty and they won't break. After you get on plane, trim them all the way out of the water. Your boat does not need tabs to run and if you have them down, I'd be afraid of stuffing.
