1997 23 ft ScarabSCS
Looking for a 26ft AO

Hello I am new to the forums here at Offshoreonly. I currently have a 1997 23 Scarab SCS that should be sold this week. Ever since I rode in a friend of mines 31 AO doing 130 down the colorado river at Havasu, I have been sold on the AO's hull design. I live in Colorado and have been looking for a used 26 for a while now. The 31 is not as practical for trailering around our smaller lakes that we have in Colorado, but the 26 AO is perfect size!! I am shopping for one with out a motor preferably, but would entertain one with a motor if its the right package at the right price. I check the AO listings on a daily basis hoping more will show up for sale. Since there are not a lot of them for sale that must indicate people love their AO's and dont want to sell them. If anyone is looking at putting there boat up for sale, please let me know! Also, does anyone here run their boats at higher elevations other than Havasu. I am looking at putting in a 540 naturally aspirated, with potential for a future 871 down the road. Also looking at a 500efi with an M3 procharger option. Thanks for your help!

Thanks Quest, does steve live in new Mexico by chance? I saw pictures of an NSX in NM, that had blue powder coated swim platforms. Curious if its the same guy, the boat was not listed on the internet.

This boat seems like a good deal and I heard it could be purchased without power.

Hey Drew are you familiar with that boat at all? I have been looking at that boat for awhile now. I had a friend of mine go look at it who lives in California. Unfortunately the boat needs a ton of glass work on the bottom of the hull and on the top there is a chunk out of the boat and stress cracks are forming because of it. Probably about 2k worth or more in glass work needs to be done. The drive also has a crack in it. The boat and trailer just have not been taken care of very well. So I will probably pass on it. Its too bad, as it would have been perfect for what I am looking at and it could be bought without a motor. I Might need to just suck it up and buy a new one!

WOW. I wasnt aware that the boat was in such bad shape. Keep looking. You can't rush perfection. When you find a clean one snatch it up and you won't be disappointed. I had a 2004 and loved every minute of it. Good luck with your search. Let me know if you want me to look at something in the C.A. A.Z. area for you.

Thanks Quest for helping. My wife really wants the 2600 because of the extra room. If I were single I would have the NSX, I am definitely more used to the left side driver perspective as my 97 Scarab SCS 23 ft boat was a left side driver. I like the way the new 2008 boats have the cut in dash and step down in cuddy. I also noticed the exhaust is lower on the new open bow for sale, I am sure that helps muffle noise around the DOCK. :-)
