Putting AC in a 36
Does anyone have AC in their 36?
I'm adding AC to mine and was wondering how the ducts were ran and where the unit was installed....
The thought of putting holes in my boat is killing me..
Thanks in advance
Rob

I thought about doing it too. I figured the porta potie cabinet at the head of the U couch would be a good spot. Or maybe under the counter on the starboard side.

I'm thinking under the counter on the starboard also.. Just not sure how to duct the air up towards the V berth without drilling huge holes through the bulkheads.... And without running the duct through the storage area.. Have you ever tried to remove that cabinet? Seems there would be plenty of room under it to run the duct.... Looks like a pain to get out...

I haven't tried removing it but I've had my eyes in there a few times and it appears that it's through bolted from what I can tell. My thinking though was to install it up in that porta pottie cabinet and have the intake and vent in the same panel. I was thinking the cabin would be small enough that it wouldn't require more than one vent to cool it down when the door is closed.

I've seen that bucket ac before... Can't say that thought hasn't crossed my mind...

You know, I'm not sure if it will fit but there is also a large storage compartment underneath the v-birth.
As for the noise. I'm not really sure either.

I bit the bullet and started installing the AC unit. Its going in the cabinet on the left just as you step down into the cuddy... It's a tight fit but it seems to be the best pace to put it. I'm using the same through hull the toilet uses and using the sink drain for the discharge.
I have not quite figured out the the air outlet yet. But I'm thinking just to right of the radio. The air return grill will be where the door is now to access that cabinet.
Every time I tear into this boat I am amazed at the quality and engineering that went into building it. Simply amazing how things are setup, and finished...
