28 Brave Prop Choice
I currently have a 28 Apache Brave. Twin 550HP/570 ft. lbs torque Grimes built motors through Bravo 1 drives, I think 1.50 gear. The engines redline at 6100 rpm, rev limiters set at 5400 rpm. The props I have currently are 23 mirage 3 blades that have been "worked", meaning the owner before me re-shaped the blades. Honestly, I do not know what pitch they are now. Here are my numbers. 73 MPH GPS running 4800rpm. The engines will not budge past 4800rpm with these props. With this power, I think I should be running close to 80mph. Does anyone have any suggestions. Propco recommended 23 pitch 4 blades. Ike, what props were you running on your 28 before you sold it?
Thanks Mike

Mike , I had 27 three blades that were labbed at mercury and repitched to 28's, it turned 5300 @ wot. I think 27 3 blades should work on your boat, but i'm wondering why you can't turn more than 4800 with your props with 550hp and 570ft ibs and 23 3 blades?

Ike,
Thanks for the info, I believe the props are not true 23's, they have been "worked" by someone. I don't even believe they are a true match. I will start testing props and will take your comments in advice.
Thanks Mike
