Steped hull 36's?
How many 36' steped hulls were made? Any Idea? We have one, and till yesterday when I was pm back and forth with Nykamp, and he mentioned about the steps on ours, I then relized every other Apache I have seen or heard about doesn't have them! So whats the deal?
Why aren't all 36's steped? Is there any benifit?

Not very many Jeff. If there was a dozen I would be surprised but there could be that many. The benefits are the same as any other stepped bottom boat more speed with less horsepower.

Hello O'wise one. Jeff BLUE MOON is a twin to yours with the one single step, it was origanlly called FREEDOM. It is a litghter lay-up like your, as compared to the older 36's. when BM was stock he ran 82 to 83 with the hp 500's were as my 1994 36 with 775's and 3A's ran 84. There are a few 36 New Techs with the twin steps I am guessing 6 boats total. Have a great weeknd guys. Jeff thanks for the fork truck info. Steve

Yah, there is a big diff between the two hulls! I should be able to see 85 with more stick time this summer. If I remember we hit 82 mph GPS with full bag and only held it for 30 seconds or so, then let off. I pretty sure we can reach 85! Not bad for just 575's.

I believe there were 6 36' twin stepped Newtechs, and maybe 3 or 4 36' single stepped Apaches. Eric Froberg would know for sure. The Newtech were fast, I rode in one that went high 70's with T/500 HPs (carbureted), 5 adults, and half a tank of fuel. Hey Nykamp I hope all is well.
