In Gen 4 stuff they were both size. The peanut port heads are all 118CC. The Gen V & VI ovals are 110CC, the peanut ( Round) port are 118.

Go get a Chevy High Performance catalog from GM . You will see what I mean from peanut port to oval port. Peanut ports are used in passenger vehilces. Oval port are truck engines

Opps, Im old, my reply was refering to Mark 4 oval ports, peanuts, 781's 049's. I know there are lots of others with smaller chambers that were older closed or semi closed chamber heads. The newer gen 5 and 5 vortecs are smaller as Andy stated. Really need the casting number to be sure.

Edelbrock makes a large oval port aluminum with 110cc.
There are old closed chambered heads out there that are 105-110cc.
Most heads used on Gen IV and Gen V marine engines have 118cc.
Gen VI magnum engines have 118.
Gen VI L-29 454s have the heart shaped Vortecs and measure around 100cc...
I have an extra set of Vortec heads if someone would like them...

I don't have the casting number's, I did at one time and had the heads off. They looked like open chamber heads. the year of the engine is 1987.

Looks like I can just bolt my 781 and 049 heads on then. All the ports cc out at 118 to 120. I was thinking about useing a steel gasket to get the quench down and increase compression ratio a bit. Looks like about 5 cc's Sound good?
