Bravo gimbal bearing and MPH loss
I have a 2004 baja 29 outlaw with twin 496mags with 60hrs on them. When i took it out after winter lay up it made a noise thru the hull while running found out that the gimbals were bad. Even out of warrenty Merc repaird them. Since repaired I have a vibration when coming off plane and have lost a good 6mph off the top end. Any Ideas on the problem here....thanks

check your alignment. Have a GOOD mechanic check them... someone you trust... probably not the same shop that did the warrantee work from the sounds of it...
Or, take it back to the shop that did the warrantee work and complain...

Do you keep your boat on a lift or on a trailer? Have seen guys that keep them on a lift and have thrown a blade off and havent looked behind the boat to see it. If its on a trailer take a look all around, make sure that the prop thats on the boat is yours and have them check the alignment again. Should be close though, the drives on.

Re: Bravo gimbal bearing and MPH loss
The first gimble was replaced. Took to the lake and found that the second was bad. Brought back to dealer and had second replaced. While it was they did a drive alingment on orders from Mecruser. My good friend works at the plant and he writes warrenty service work for the production motors in Stillwater Ok. He is personally involved and it will get resolved but the servicing dealer can be a little difficult. These gimbles only have about an hour time on them do they need breaking in??

Have them check the props for "true" easy to bend a blade if they don't remove them prior to outdrive removal. Also it would be a good idea to check alignment of drives relative to each other and that they are trimming up the same.

Where was the boat stored all winter? Trailer? could the trailer not be set up right and have developed a hook in the hull ?

Concerning the speed loss,
did you lose RPM's too ?
To lose that much speed, you
should have seen a loss of RPM's.
also.
This could just be an issue with the
speedo, or pick up.
( assuming it's not a gps speedo)
I had a vibration in mine at a certain
rpm, ended up being the props,
sent them to darin @ houston prop,
problem gone.
