Audio help!
Has anyone used the pioneer ts-mr2040 marine speakers? How do they compare to the alpine stm6666. I need a real world opinion instead of a spec sheet.

Re: Audio help!
I have not used either type but the specs for the Pioneer 2040 appear to be somewhat inflated. Advertised as being able to go down to 25 Hz is fairly unrealistic without suffering severe roll-off, even for an 8 inch speaker. Also beware of any power rating like "max music power" such as on the Pioneer website. It's meaningless.
I'm shopping for additional speakers myself and so far I'm leaning to the 6.5 inch Infinity Kappa marine or the Bazooka 8 inch marine speakers for outside the cabin and 6.5 inch Infinity Kappa 3-way automobile speakers for inside the cabin.

Re: Audio help!
I'm using the 6.5" version of the Pioneers. I preferred them over the Polyplanars, and what ever other speaker Westmarine had on display. The Pioneer speaker had a rich sound for it's size, and bright crisp highs, not harsh. The poly's were too muddy for me. In the boat, they sound nice, and more bass than I expected for a speaker this size. It's probably because of the enclosure (the bench seat box). I don't think you'll be disappointed with them, but if you want more punch, add a sub. That's what I'm doing. I haven't heard the Infinity Cappa marine speakers, but their car speakers are nice, but I still didn't think they were as bright as the Pioneers.
