Question Manifold and Riser continuity test?

Is there a way to test my manifolds and risers to see if they are any good. Im repowering but can use the manifolds that were on the rig. They are only a couple years old. Is there a company that does this kind of testing? What kind of physical traits are a good giveaway that the parts are scrap?
Because Im repowering should I automatically go with new manifolds / risers?
Thanks
`Dave

It depends on how your repowering, if its stock power application I'd just run the stock system, if your moving up in the HP chain i would do some research into better exhaust systems.

To answer your first question:

It's called "Magnafluxing."
Call around, you will find someone to do it.

The second question:

If you have the cash... go with new exhaust manifolds, they are a weak link.

The motor should do fine with the stock manifolds / risers. A better flowing exhaust system would help but its not completely necessary.

It seems that there is no generic direct replacement for the OEM manifolds and risers. The generic ones are half the price of the OEM ones. What kind of problems could i run into if they are not fit to my exact application? Is it worth it or should I just spring for the $800 OEM set?

This is the first time I have had to deal with this so I really dont know the best way to approach it. Any and all advice is welcome. I need to make a final decision after lots of procrastination.

If you want to get a good replacement check out GLM manifolds and risers. They have cast iron and aluminum. They seem well made and have a few upgrades over stock OEM stuff. They've been onspecial lately and are about 1/2 OEM in price.

As far as aftermarket cast iron manifolds, GLM is the only company you want to buy them from, the most crucial area on teh iron manifolds is the gasket surface where the riser/elbow bolts to the manifold. they tend to corrode at this surface, make sure there is enough meet for the gasket to seal on. With the exeption of GLM, all the sftermarket iron manifolds have a very thin surface for the gasket to seel on and ussualy leak at this joint even when they are brand new out of the box.
