Lightbulb noticeable idle

I'm from the Netherlands and hae a powerboat with 2 x 350 engines. I would like to install a new comp cam XM270HR.

In the technical details they say "noticeable idle" can anyone tell me wat does this means ? it is difficult to translate to Dutch.

In the technical details they say engine range is 1200-5200.

Is it possible to run the engines with this cam at idle 700 ?

thanks for your help

peter

"noticable idle" will mean the the engine will have a choppy kind of rough idle consistant with the sound of a hopped up V8.......if your a fan of North American V8 engines......you will like the sound!!!!........not sure if it will idle a 700rpm though

With the range that was given above, you wont have any problem setting the idle to 700 rpm. That range just means that the cam doesn't start to make any power until 1200 rpm.

The idle will propably be fine at 700 RPM, you'll just have to see once dropped in the water. You should see some good performance upgrades from those cams. The boat looks good, you built it yourself hull and everything????

Looks like you did a great job! I'd be concerned though about hanging the motors and transom that far off the back of the trailer, especially if the resin has not cured fully (<6 months for vinylester unless a post-cure heat treatment was used). Don't leave it there long!

Talking Re: noticeable idle

Thanks for all your help and information.

I'm a Dutch guy and I had an American Dream. When I was 14 years old I build my own boat off 10" with a 33 HP very old evinrude, 3 years later a build-ed a boat off 16', when I became 19 years old, Don Johnson was on TV (Miami Vice)and I saw every episode when he was crossing the waters in a Scarab. I went crazy but did not have the money to buy such a boat so I started to Design a 42'. My mum and dad said that I was crazy , also suppliers here in the Netherlands, but I had a dream !. After one year development I started to build ( 9 years ) The boat is completely made a wood-epoxy construction and the hull weight is 4000 lbs. I had 2 Volvo 290 drive's, but last winter I changed them into 2 XS drive's (sponsord by Volvo). 3 years ago I was invited by a dutch TV show and they took me to Key West where they made it possible to drive for 1.5 hour in the V-Hull of Team Virgin (cigarette 36'), together with Tres Martin, a moment I will never forget. After that moment I changed my engine's to 350 Vortec and last winter I upgraded the boat technical.
You will ask why not bigger, we pay over here $ 6.00 for a gallon of fuel.
I will take some pictures this week and put them over here (also some pictures of the building.
At the moment my age is 36 and still crazy (of powerboats)

More information you can also find on www.powerboatcity.nl , it is only in dutch.
