Default Promised piston oiler set up by Mesa

Here a while ago we had a post about piston oilers and how they were done and how they worked I didn't have pics at the time and I promised I'd ge you guys some here they are .This is a twin turbo aluminum small block we've been asked to build for a twin small block offshore racer from Spain. The pics show the modification to the main bearing surface and I also have pics of the end I make for adjusting the angle of the spray this piece we make in house from a simple straight thread bolt . This piece allows us to point the spray directly to the bottom of the piston were we want it and in the amount we want also

Laz, explain what we are looking at. Did you drill the main bearing saddle, then the oil sprays from the top of the main webbing, up to hit the bottom of the piston? Thus cooling the piston so you can run higher comprssion or boost, right?

Looks like some very nice work.

I had them installed in my new motor along with valve spring oilers.Always nice to have a little extra cooling/lubrication insurance.

we machine the main bearing saddle and groove from the main oil hole over to the newly drilled hole for pressurized oil to flow from one to the other this is a machining operation that we perform with some jigs we've made over the years if the oil doesn't spray exactly how we want it then we add the diverter also shown from the bottom of the cylinder with this we can control the direction and the amount of oil we modify all of our Turbo and Blower marine racing engines this is one of the small things we do in the quest for reliability and durability. Sincerely Laz

I did not read the original thread so I don’t know if this has been asked. Is this spraying all the time or is there a valve that open at a certain oil psi?

Nice work BTW
