Parts for shop air compressors???
Anyone know where to get parts for old shop air comperssors?
I have an old 3hp and this thing has been trouble free for 10+years and I'd like to repair it. It needs some sort of valve or diaphram. There is a 5/16 tube that comes from the head that goes down to the side of the crankcase. Where it attaches to the crankcase there is a valve of some sort that has a small hole in it. This hole leaks air when the comperssor is running and stops when it shuts off. Not sure what it does and I don't want to take it apart until I can find parts...because it still works.
Info from the compressor
Dresser
Series 5000
Serial # 405t2325
Leroi Division
Dresser Industries Inc.
Sidney, Ohio
Searching the net I think Dresser has merged with Ingersol Rand and Dresser itself is no more.

Re: Parts for shop air compressors???
You have a LeRoi compressor, not sure what there story is. The did make mostly larger compressors of good quality. I would hit the phone book and see who sells and service air compressors local to you and give them a call. Most dealers can get what ever parts you need regardless of brand.
The tube you speak of sound like an unloader. It should vent the discharge side of the compressor when it shuts off so the compressor does not start under load. There are many different designs on how they do this.
