Oil coming out of outdrive. . .
Starting my project. I had an oil leak out the side of my Imco lower where the case meets the upper. I dissassembled and found a pinched O-ring. Fixed it.
So I refilled the case with oil. I pulled the top side plug out and removed the cap from the resevoir. Filled to the top side plug. Screwed it in when oil came out and then filled it to the HOT line on the resesvoir.
I have oil coming out the exhaust area around the prop shaft up inside the lower unit. Any suggestions? Wasn't leaking there before. I may not have gotten that O-ring on properly around the main shaft and it is leaking over into the exhaust chamber..
Help!!

I usually glue the o ring in place with 3m super weather strip adhisive (yellow) better know as gurilla snot
that way I dont have to worry about it shifting or pinching

Did you have the lower apart? I just rebuilt my drive this winter. XR upper, Imco lower. When done, I pressure tested it. I found the lower bearing carrier "O" ring to be leaking. I pulled the carrier out again, saw no problems. Changed the "O" ring anyway. Pressure tested again, same leak. Then I did as the Merc service manual says and coated the "O" ring with sealer. Problem gone.
