HELP! My drive is leaking!
Last season I was getting a slow trickle into the bilge from SOMEWHERE...not much, but enough to kick the float switch on my bilges after floating for four hours or so. Over the winter I pulled the inspection covers on my extension boxes and found the port side had about 3-4 inches of water in it and some of the hardware was corroded. I launched the boat last weekend after resealing the insp. covers (one of the screws was not setting correctly, and I believed that was the problem), but the water is back. What is a common cause of leakage from a Bravo 1, and how do I look for it/fix it? Either that or does anyone else have problems with leaking from IMCO boxes? Thanks for any help...I want a dry bilge!

Re: HELP! My drive is leaking!
A common cause of water leakage on a Bravo would be the bellows. They crack from flexing and getting brittle from age. Trim the drive all the way up look at the rubber bellows. Hope this helps.

Did you pull the drives if the bellows are leaking and full of water your u-joints and gimbalbearing will be dust before to long. Ed

I agree, Check the bellows (boots). If you need them you can get the factory ones on my site at discounted prices.. If water was coming there you would be best replacing all of the boots along with the gimle bearing. It would be wise to also inspect the shift cable if you go that far.. Jamie
