Default 496/Diacom experts...question

I have a Whippled 496HO that is having a sensor and/or electrical issue. The engine just shuts off like someone is turning the key off.

Sequence of events....
First time out boat is running fine; has a small hickup at 3500rpm but all gauges seem fine.
Run it up to 4500 and it just shuts off.
Fires right back up sounds perfect goes into gear, touch throttle and it dies.
Fires right back up idles perfect and dies all by itself.
Does this several times and batteries are drained.
Towed in

On hose and charged batteries I hook up Diacom and recorded the following as it dies all by itself over and over.

(side note: ECM keeps loosing connectivity but still runs?? May be my laptop connection)

Any way here are the two logs.....Cam sensor seems to be the culprit but I don't understand the Overspeed error?

Any thoughts?????

Logs in next two post...

The first thing that I see is that the Sea Pump Pressure is 0.00. This may be the problem. There should be a SEA Pump PSI Lo or Block Press Lo Fault, but appearently there is not .

I think the Overspeed fault is just a byproduct of the reduced rev limit caused by running in Gaurdian Mode with 0% power available.

As far as the Cam Sensor Fault, I see a lot of Cam Sensor and Crank Sensor faults on engines that run normally. I wouldn't mess with it just yet.

I would begin with figuring out why you have no Sea Pump Pressure, repair, and retest.

Dave,
I don't know if it matters but these logs were run on the hose and and probably never really had time to build pressure before stalling out. There was plent of water coming out the exhaust however.
Wouldn't you think that if the WP was an issue it would throw a fault before shutting it down?

Also, if the cam sensor was faulty could it be sending a faulty reading to the ECM making it think it was hitting the rev limiter?

Thanks,
Dave

Testing in the water would be better than on the hose, but I think if you had plenty of water coming out the exhaust, then there had to be some Sea Pump Pressure and the ECM should have detected it. And yes, I would think that you would get a code. You are showing NO Sea Pump pressure and even with no code, I think thats worth looking into.

I don't think the Cam Sensor fault is causing or related to the Overspeed fault in any way.

I had one do the same thing and it was the sea pump, the one I tested had about 3 psi on the hose. also it set other codes but when the PSI switch was replaced all falt codes went away? Hope this helps. (by the way it was a new pump friom Mercury that was bad)

as stated above first I see is sea water pump press which will throw it in into guardian but shoudnt stall the mtr would cut back power, second is fuel flow if hooked up o.oo

I dont see the oil press in the ff file other then level 0.00

Dave
I see you are having as much trouble as I was. Found my problem but seems too simple. Did not even think to look there,
