Dragon winner in UIM P1 (Malta Valletta)

Jacky and Mike Shelton win in Europe in the UIM opening season race in there new Dragon. Scott Smith flew to Europe when the Dragon arrived to sea trial and set up there new Dragon. Congrats Mike and Jacky.

First race out Dragon in the UIM Class P-1 takes first on Saturday and second on Sunday in a good old fashion 140 KM 4-6 sea Offshore race. Beating out Apache, Donzi', Formula's as well as 16 other European brands. The first race they where so far ahead all they had to do was finish to take the overall win for the weekend.

Mr.CIG3.............First off congrats to Dragon Powerboats on creating a phenominal machine......ARPRO did have a very good race beating out the competition by over 5 Minutes......

And well that's a nice story in theory you got there BUT........
they where NOT even racing in the same class as the DONZI !

If they where, and to put it in perspective here are the times for race 2 you where speaking of.

– OSG Donzi – ITA – 47:51.35 - Evolution Class
– ARPRO – GBR – 55:41.95 - SuperSport Class

That's almost an 8 minute difference....... not trying to take anything away......but they aren't playing with the big-boys just yet !

Talking Re: Dragon winner in UIM P1 (Malta Valletta)

Hi Guys

We are very pleased, that boat is just awesome particularly in the rough stuff. You just keep that throttle on give her her head and off she goes! She is the best boat I have ever had the pleasure to drive . The Dragon guys have been great, nothing is ever too much trouble.

You're right, the Dragon did'nt beat the Donzi or the Buzzi BUT we have to race to an average speed which prevents us from racing them. However, when we had a few moments running alongside we pushed briefly to see what the Dragon would do and we were definitely up there in the rough. So I really believe the Dragon can do it when we are allowed to!

You are correct!
There are two classes ... Evolution and Supersports

The Donzi in Evolution has two Sterling 650hp engines and is *not* limited to being a standard production hull and engines.
It then has to weigh 3.5kg per 1 HP

The Dragon in Supersports has two Mercury 525hp engines and is limited to being a standard production hull and engines.
It then has to weigh 4.5kg per 1hp which means it weighs over 10,400 US lbs

The Dragon won the Supersports category and came 3rd overall beating a number of the evolution class boats too.
It did not beat the Donzi, but the donzi has 250hp more weighs less.

Thumbs up Re: Dragon winner in UIM P1 (Malta Valletta)

Say what you will but I think that's pretty damn impressive! ...Especially when this is basically a new boat from a new company. Good going and hats off to ARPRO!

How can you compare these 2??? It's not "apples to apples" becuase the Donzi's has bigger motors. Donzi's customer service absolutely SUCKS compared to the Dragon's customer service. Compare that
