The most used synthetic oil here is 15W-50 Mobil-1 EP and the newest formulation is perfect.

Mobil-1 V-Twin 20W-50 if you need the toughest product around.

Amsoil 20W-50 Severe Service holds it's own very well and many offshore racers use it.

Amsoil 15W-40 Marine is very good.

Those are what I have come to find are the top four synthetics most compatable to offshore engines. Many are now going to 50 hour drains and the tests show you can do it.

Oil fliters...

Take your pick...

Mobil-1
K&N
Wix Racing
Baldwin
A/C

Fram racing for the outrageous machines...

Agree that Mobil 1 V Twin is the best. For most of us, Mobil 1 15w50 is more than good enough. 5qt. containers are about $21 at wally world. Hard to beat.

I just bought some synthetic blend 25/40w made by Mercruiser. Kinda expensive at $5.25 a quart. I bought that type since this is going into a brand new Mercruiser Crate engine. Dont need no back lip from Mercruiser in case something goes wrong.

There is a huge difference in price between Mobil 1 15w50 and Mobil 1 V Twin. Is it worth the extra $? Who is a candidate for Mobil 1 V Twin?
