New 38ZR What Power/Drive Should I Get?
I have almost worked out the details on a new 2007 Donzi 38ZR I originally started with Mercury 600SCi's w/ITS and XR Drives but they were trying to get me to go with the Ilmor 625's but, now Mercury came out with the 700SCi's which come packaged with their new NXT1 Dry Sump 6. I mostly boat in the mid-west and it's humid and hot so I chose the 600SCi's over the Ilmor's because they always produce 600HP at the prop. After reading the new issue of SpeedBoat Magazine were they tested the 600SCi's vs Ilmor 625's they were pretty close but I think "IMO" the 600's is the ticket.
Now they pop the 700's and the new dry 6 - now what do I do - what else ask you guys at Offshore Only the place for the answers. So what should I get?
PS: I have BMax drives on my current 38ZX Daytona now and I like them too.

I have a 2005 38ZR, hull no 6 with 525's and Bravo XR's, 125 hours and no drive problems. I would definitely go with the ITS system. 600's are a nice solid package, I have not seen the 700's out yet but Merc's are always the way the go. All of these selections are great, it's just how fast do you want to go and how $$ do you want to spend. I get a solid 87/88 out of my boat with tame power.

I like the 600 sc package. Its not alot more than a 525 but it will push you into the mid 90's. If all you do is cruise alot with the every once in a while hard run, that would be a great package. You figure a 35' ZR with 600's will touch 100+. We had one of those at Donzi for our dealer meeting. Nice piece.
Good luck with what ever you choose.

I've got one of these boats in England (2006' model) with Arnesons and it works great. Gets on plane fast, cruises great, docks easy and so on.
I don't know how to size photos so I cannot post it here but there is a shot of it on my web site.
