Default CMI Header install

I am currently installing the CMI 496 sport tube on my Volvo 496 motor. Do I need to apply any kind of thread locking compound on the ARP bolts? If so - what type?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Bengt B

Thank you for the info Joe. Could you tell anything on the torque for these bolts?

don't forget to re-tighten them after you run the motor the first time or two.

this is VERY IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!

the reason for not putting any thing on them is it you use loctile and they do heat up the lock tite will have the oppisite effect as desired and if you use a lube they wont stay tight ....just be sure as OSO says to re tighten them after first hour then I like to double check them at least once a yr

another word of advice if running in salt or brackish water be sure to flush flush flush.........CMI makes a great product but do not leave salt water sitting in them

Ok Thank you for the input. I noticed that the screws where quite loose after the first run. I suppose I wil check regularly for at least the first few runs.

Do yourself a favor, get some ARP SS studs for the headers. I retightened the bolts all the time for the first season. Installed the studs with new gaskets, retightened once and that was about 100hrs ago.
