Default mercury weber carbs 350 mag

Has anyone ever worked on these? I see there are some kind of metering rods . Is this how the mixture is adjusted or is there just a jet ? I repowered this season with mercury quicksilver long blocks and it seems to be running a bit lean. Plugs are a bit white. Oil temp gets hot and pressure goes down after short wot runs. I figure it could be the fuel too! Just wondered how I can richen it up a bit. Any help or info please!

Primary has metering rods and jets. Rods travel within jet.

Secondaries are jet.

Weber makes the Edelbrock carbs.

If you want to work on yours get a Weber book and get the widely available Edelbrock tuning kits.

Thanks! I kinda thought that. I went to edelbrocks web site and downloaded the tuning guide for their 600 carb. A lot of info there. I ordered the tuning kit and will give it a try over the weekend.

You can get a calibration kit from Eldebrock that contains all the different sized metering rods and corresponding springs. There are about 6 different sized rods and six different weighted springs. They are color coded. They are vacum actuated and are used to control acceleration and transistion from the idle circut to the power circuit. They extend down into both the primary and secondary jets and can be easily changed in under a minute on the water. The kit also has several different sized primary and secondary jets.
