Default who wants to lend me a 496ho scan tool

Anyone out there that wants to borrow me a Merc scan tool so that I can scan my motor?

I have one motor that is giving me the 2 beep alarm and I would like to find out for myself what it is and fix it.

I am willing to pay for all shipping costs back and forth.

Jeff

I had the same intermittant problem during some really hot days last month..No luck on any forums on a fix for it except to get a scan tool...All gauges were fine and it ran fine, just a 2beep alarm every min or 2..Then it mite not alarm the next time u go out.I did however change the water seperator before we went out last weekend and the alarm never went off. when i got back I changed the lower unit oil.. too early to tell if it did any good.let me know if u find a fix..

Heres a new twist to this alarm puzzle...We were out 5 hrs Friday with NO alarms, then Saturday (Temp. much hotter that day) it started the 2 beep alarms again..Noticed I cud shut off engine, but leave ignition on and the alarms kept coming..After a half hour or so, NO alarms rest of the day..

This is getting scary! See my post under the 350 Mag thread about the 2 beep alarm. Just bought a boat with a pair of '02 6.2MX motors and during the sea trial (about .7 hours run time on motors) the alarms never went off. Got it home and within 5 minutes after loading the family in the boat, started getting the 2 beep alarm on starboard engine ... disconnected the drive bottle sensor, so I know it is not that (and the drive bottle was at the "full" mark anyways. Manual says that is the only thing that will give a 2 beep signal. Talking with Mercury Tech Assistance was of no value whatsoever ...

might be a H20 pressure sensor mounted in the cooler behind bellhousing.
had a few go bad, 2 beep alarm but usually goes into guardian mode and rpms wont go over 4000 rpm. without a scanner, disconnect elect connector and ohm out, if its open replace it
with a scanner h20 pressure will read 0 hope this helps
by the way - sometimes doesnt store a hard code
