Search for wags 382's formula fastech buildup,he made 620 hp and 590 hp with a freshen job and a switch to afr 305's. It runs trouble free with no issues, boat picked up 7 or 8 mph and its heavy,Smitty

Yes, 7-8mph on a 38ft boat from a top ended 502 is very impressive. In fact, I think he kept the mediocre Gill exhaust set up too.

My fall project is a pair of 500EFI's. Plan on making 540's at roughly 9.5 to 1 compression. Heads are still being considered. Should hit low 600's on the Dyno.

I would hope you would see more HP then that.

We did our 500 EFI's. Used Merlin World II Rect Port heads. Compression to 9.25:1, and changed to the Crane 741 came as used in the 525. Mark Boos at Precision Marine is a wizzard at the ECM program and the engines dynoed at 580 HP at 5300 RPM with all the accessories.

I have almost 60 trouble free hours and could not be happier. Kind of wish we had stroked them to 540 while we were at it.

Good Luck

Mark will be getting mine when they are built too. I assume conservative numbers so I'm not disappointed......I'm sure I'll be posting results this spring.
With the 8 PSI blowers now she's run 86 GPS at 5,000, have't stretched her out yet (Formula 382)

I bought my 29 foot Scarab with a new 540 Bulldog that has a Merlin intake, shortened rocker arms, Eagle racing pistons, and it is stroked. It is supposed to have 600 hp, but I have not had it on a dyno yet. I have had it up to 65 mph at 4000 rpms so far with a 4-blade, 24 pitch prop. I still had plenty of throttle left, but I did not push it that day.
