29scarab finally getting somewhere.
If anyone has been following my thread on my Whipple motor not idling when shifting into gear ,,here's the latest.
Got a response from board member bobl at Full Throttle marine in Austin. told me to bring the boat up to Austin so he could look at it. I had replaced the IAC motor, the TP sensosr and still no luck with idling. Mind you the engine barely had 10 hours on it.
Took it up this past friday. Said he would call me on monday. got a call monday afternoon and he said he had fixed the problem. I said" Give me the scoop". HE said he found the timing to be advanced to 36 degrees!! He said he didn't know how it got there, especially if the engine had already been dyno'd! He said he was surprised the engine even ran. I couldn't get it to idle below 1100rpm and now I know why.
I went through hell getting then engine back from the marine mechanic that went out of business and had to call the police to get it back. I'm wondering if the marine mechanic jacked with it for me calling the cops on him??
Anyway,,,bobl said I shouldn't have any problems with it when putting into gear now.
Bob new I was on a budget and didn't charge me but a couple of hours for his trouble shooting. He said he didn't want to do anything more unless I new about it.
Thanks bobl!!
