Sure you can. Why not???????

Save some money for a new drive though. How long it will last depends on how you treat it.

The answer is yes you can. The question is how long will it last?

Having been down a similar road (ProCharged) and a lot of "profesionals" telling me no problem, I have learned as many the weak link will break.

A recent conversation with a Merc tech stated that a Bravo 1 was really not intended for much over 400 HP. That said it's a role of the dice they say if you stay out of the boost, don't get in and out of throttles hard and keep it in the water you can make one live a while.

Not sure of your expected HP and weight of your boat but I would consider a drive upgrade at the same time I chose B-Max afer breaking 4 uppers and the "profesionals" telling me to try another. $$$$ cha ching.

Good luck whatever you decide.

I went through 2 Bravo 1 drives. Completely grenaded the uppers. 502 Whipple charged on a 26ft boat. I put an XR drive on this summer and made it through the whole season with no problems. (knock on wood) The Bravo 1 drive is definitely the weak link. By the way, after destroying my first drive, I was easy on the stick coming out of the hole and still managed to blow up a second drive. Both drives were the newer style and had less than 50 hours.

B-Max was my choice 2 year warranty with extended 950 ft lbs of tourqe and up to 14000 lbs. I've had good luck so far. I do know of others grenading XR's as well.

My two cents

Define cheap. You can get a hold of Dean at the Bravo Shop for B-Max he will help with pricing. (239) 454-6593
Not sure of your budget but be careful of weak links they always break. Two Bravo's or 1 1/2 XR's pay for a B-Max

I'm not sure on a B-Max, but the two Bravo 1's and XR I bought from Offshore Performance Specialties. Call Donny at 239-489-0884. He's very helpful Also, their website is www.offshoreperformance.com. I did a lot of shopping around and he definitely had the best prices. He shipped it to me in Northern Illinois via UPS. Last I checked, the website I mentioned above was down.

I went through a B-1 on my 27' Fountain pretty quick with a Whippled 502. I now run an IMCO SC and have had no problems to date with the drive.
