38 slingshot info?
My Fountain friends will hang me if they see this thread but I am looking for info from other board members who own slingshots. I have been considering one and am curious about some things. #1 ride quality in the rough (3-4).#2 Speed on stock power(500efis). #3 resale. Please help me with some of these. I am sonsidering this boat as my next one.
Thanks

#1, #2 and #3 all better that a 38 Fountain and much more. Mine is for sale if your interested. Let me know.
#1) Ride is good in 3-4's, anything bigger in any boat is uncomfortable, but the boat can take it.
#2) Speed is 82-85 with stock 500EFI's, 95+ with them Whippled.
#3) Resale is decent. Better than Fountain, but not Cigarette.

Re: 38 slingshot info?
I have heard that the slingshots at wot get a little squirly? Is this true. Every 38-42 Fountain I have been in including my own is straight as an arrow. I am looking for info on handling as well.

Mine runs good up to about 96-97 then ya have to drive it.When it was stock low 80s it never felt anything weird.I would even sit on the hatch while my buddy drove it wfo in smooth water. The Hustler is deeper, has more room in the cockpit and the v birth is bigger, it doesn't have glued in carpet up front or in the bathroom.
I would think the newer 05-06 staggered 38-42 Fountains would be faster.Hustler hasn't change the bottom since 97.I like the new 2006 Fountain cockpit interior.I still don't like the flat dash or the throttles.

Re: 38 slingshot info?
I'm looking for good rough water capability but something a little different. I am looking at 99 through 01 slingshots. Need more cabin space which is not offered on fountain models. Just curious more about performance and handling of the boat. Thanks for your input Strippoker

Before I bought my 2001 Hustler I looked at the 38 Fountains 99-2001 and they said 42's were faster, had a better bottom.I think they changed the 38 F in 2005 to the new bottom.I still like the 42's better. If they could put a 42 Fountain bottom on a 388 hustler

Re: 38 slingshot info?
I appreciate your thoughts but that still does not tell me a whole lot. In fact you are confusing me more than ever. Would I be happy with a 38 sling knowing what you know vs. current package I have? Are you happy with yours?
