Cool Rudder boat

Does anyone have experience in driving a rudder boat with fixed drives. What is the pros and cons. docking, steering, etc.
Thanks

Default Re: Rudder boat

I instructed boat handling both power and sail for about 6 years, twin fixed in some respects is easier to handle in tight quarters then I/O's. The big pain is if rudder boat has one engine die, then the boat is a handful unless you have done a fair bit of practicing, I grew up running both single/dual fixed screw And can get most novices through most anything. One really great thing about twin fixed is if you loose steering you can still get anywhere you need to with the throttles & shifters, impossible with I/O's.
