Default Bravo upper & lower questions

From what I can see in the Outrdrive classifieds, the mercruiser bravo upper works with both a bravo 1 1.5 Ratio and/or a bravo 3 2.0 Ratio lower?

So one can exchange from going from a bravo 1 to a bravo 3 (and vice versa) by simply exchanging lowers & props?

How much labor and parts is there involved to exchange lowers?

Thanks,

Jamal

It may take about 1 hour to swap lowers. That includes draining and refilling the gear lube.

1 hour for a novice. It's only held on by 7 bolts...but you have the remove the rear zinc first too!

You are right, it takes longer to drain and refill the gear lube, than to unbolt the lower. Especially when its cold.

If it is that easy and with the bravo 1 and bravo 3 lowers being interchangeable...I am supprized that no one has done a direct comparisson between the two drives on the same boat.

From what I understand the Prop Shops (BBLADES/THROTTLE UP etc.) have a prop testing loaner program.

Does anyone have a bravo 1 lower (or complete bravo 1) they would like to exchange with a bravo 3 for a couple of weeks this summer?

Maybe we can put to bed the real differences in performance on a single engine V-bottom boat.

Please advise.
