Default Hustler 388 Racing in Powerboat P1 Series

The Southampton-based dynamic racing duo of Vee Ganjavian and Charlie Williams-Hawkes will compete in American-built Hustler powerboat in the SuperSport Class of the 2007 Powerboat P1 World Championship. In their 2006 debut season both pilots acquitted themselves well, finishing seventh in a highly competitive class despite their Sunseeker XS being someway off the pace.

In the US, Hustler Powerboats has a racing heritage steeped in success and Team Hustler plan to extend this into Europe with a Hustler 388 Slingshot powered by twin diesel engines. The boat, considered one of the sleekest, fastest and most technologically advanced in its class, can reach speeds of around 90mph and there is considerable optimism on both sides of the Atlantic that a world title challenge is achievable.

Driver and proprietor of Team Hustler is Vee Ganjavian, a successful businessman and entrepreneur whose thrill for speed is underlined by a successful racing career on land and sea. His decision to invest in a new state-of-the-art craft clearly demonstrates his determination to compete to win. The team will take delivery of the boat in March and an intense test programme will follow in preparation for the first Grand Prix of the 2007 P1 World Championship, starting in Malta on 5th May.

Experienced racer Charlie Williams-Hawkes, 29, will continue to partner Vee both on the water in P1 and in a new business venture importing and selling Hustler Powerboats in the UK. Ranging from 21 - 50 ft and all with standard production hulls with fully customisable options, the new company, Voom Voom Marine, located in Southampton, will use its entry in the Powerboat P1 World Championship as a marketing platform for these exclusive custom-made pleasure powerboats.

Charlie Williams-Hawkes, Voom Voom Marine:

"The Powerboat P1 World Championship is the best possible arena in which to demonstrate the quality of a Hustler product under the most arduous conditions. Physically and mentally Vee and myself will be in the best possible shape to win races and we know that our boat will have both the speed and reliability."

"It promises to be a very exciting year and our optimism extends to boat sales through our dealership. Hustler Powerboats have an excellent reputation in the important areas such as performance, rigging and operational costs. Equally as impressive is the attention provided to the hand-over and after-sales-care. At Voom Voom we shall also be providing customers with a 48 hour European call-out service for customers wishing to take their boats abroad. "

John Cunningham, Hustler Powerboats:

"We are excited about the huge growth we see in the European market and are proud to team up with Voom Voom Marine in building its new P1 Powerboat 388 Slingshot. We look forward to working with them and are happy to have them on our team as our new UK dealer."

"Our goal is to provide Europe with the highest quality performance boats on the market and we feel this is a good opportunity to prove not only the performance but our quality as well. We wish all the P1 Powerboat competitors good luck in the coming season and hope to see you in the winners circle!"

Default Hustler in Malta

Malta to get 'Voom Voomed' in build up to GP!

Team VoomVoom.com, based in Southampton, England, and racing the hugely successful Hustler 388 Slingshot Powerboat, announced that they will be holding the Official Team Launch of its Powerboat P1 World Championship SuperSport contender in Valletta, Malta, at 6pm on Thursday 3rd May... and everyone is welcome to attend!

This will be a great opportunity to meet the race team and pilots and to see and touch the brand new Hustler 388 Slingshot. On Thursday evening they will be meeting the public while the team are relaxing before getting down to the serious business of racing in the Maltese Grand Prix of the Sea!

The Official Launch will be hosted by the P1 team in Freedom Square at the world famous Valletta City Gate and will be bringing the glamour and glitz of the Powerboat P1 World Championship into the very heart of Malta's Capital City and World Heritage site. Welcoming the team to Malta will be the Mayor of Valletta, Mr Paul Borg Oliver, and the British High Commissioner, Mr Nick Archer. They will be helping to celebrate this motorsports maritime link between the USA, the UK and Malta.

"We are excited to be coming back to race again in Malta with our brand new race boat, which has just been delivered from our shipyard in New York," explains Fiona Pascoe, Team Manager. "Malta holds a special place in our hearts due to the welcoming warmth of her people towards P1 and our team. We decided it was appropriate to give our fans in Malta the chance to get up close and personal with race boat Number 7 and the Team VoomVoom.com pilots and crew. We are looking forward to meeting as many people as possible, signing autographs and giving away posters to kids and those of us who still get excited enough about racing to be kids at heart!"

Team Owner and European importer of the extensive Hustler Powerboats range of performance and leisure craft, Vee Ganjavian, is also in buoyant mood. "Our fans have seen us racing Number 7 and Microlink for some time now. We have decided to raise our game and have built a beautiful Hustler 388 Slingshot to contend and win the 2007 P1 World Championship. I just love meeting people and so do my team, for us Malta is a special place to race and for me it's the people who welcome us that make it that way."

The Powerboat P1 Maltese Grand Prix of the Sea, the first event of the 2007 World Championship, takes place over the weekend of 5th/6th May.

Vee and Charlie of VoomVoom.com take 3rd overall at the Powerboat P1 Race this weekend in Cowes.

With 200HP less than their competitors and 600lbs heavier in thier 388 Slingshot w/440 Yanmars. Great Jobs guys. Extremely Impressive.

They are only 150pts back of third place in the championship standings and did not finish the first race as a sponsor who rode along had gotten hurt.
