Default bolster seats

Unlike most in this forum , i do everything on a budget
i have bucket seats in my boat now , actually in my garage now since my last outing , coming off of waves a lil too aggressivly and busted the crap out of the base of the pedestal , it didnt pull out of the wood , just broke the base where the 4 inch pipe sits down in it
anyway , my question is
has anyone ever constructed a drop down bolster seat out of a bucket , my bucket wraps around your body , and the butt cushoin is removable and on ridged marine plywood
i was looking at it and wondering about cutting the bottem out of the seat and fastening the back/sides to a couple of bolster pedestals , and hinging the bottem cushion

the attached picture is of a similier seat , same design
anyone ever try this?

Dunno if anyone has tried that but old Scarabs had bottoms of their bolsters hinged like you mean.

Can you post a pic of your bolster seats, how high is the seating surface from the floor?

I agree with the Scarab idea. Go look at a late 80's 30' Scarab bolster seat. You could copy the SS frame (seat drops down)and use most of your current bucket seat.
