350 MPI S/C - how much of a gain?
Hey everyone. I just joined and looking for advice. I have just purchased a cruiser (2002 rinker 270) with a 300 hp 350 mpi B3. I know it wont ever be fast but I would like to have a better mid range / cruise speed. I looking at adding a S/C whipple. How much HP can the stock b3 (2.2:1) handle? Should I repop? (currently 22). The real question is what kind of gains should I see in max speed and cruise speed. The boat now comes with a 496 375hp option but in 02 the 300hp was the max. Engine change not an option but I would spend the cash for a S/C if the cost benefit relationship is there.

Now I see that you are considering a whipple. I installed a procharger m-1 with a stock 7.4MPI and experienced modist gains on a 9000# cruiser. I then beefed up the motor with heads, exhaust and forged internals. Blew it and the outdrive. See all my posts for the details. All good now with a second re-build, bigger injectors and a custom in the boat ecu re-programming by Dustin Whipple. My mistake was going too far W/O upgrading my injectors and getting an in the boat ecu re-program. Dustin has a good network of dealers who may have a re-program off the shelf, or depending on where you are. Mark @ P/M in La. or a couple others in Mi. The drive question should be put to **** Trace in Mi. (Mr. Gadgets)
