Shifting problem, OW Bravo drive

Hey guy's i have a OW Bravo one and yesterday the cable started getting tight and then i could not get foreword. Only reverse. No other noises and the drive probably has 50 hours on it. I can feel the detent when it drops into reverse. But no detent into foreword and it is a standard right hand rotation. I have a fair sized power plant in front of it but when this happened i was starting up from sitting on a sand bar. I have not been abusing it and it is only 3 years old. It went together really well and i have not had to touch it in three years. just fluid changes every fall. No warranty i put it together myself and the gears shimmed up really well. i gave mrgadgets a few pics and a brief description of what i did and he seemed to agree with how i did it.

where can i send the check how about if i just give you 10k for another substandard drive like all the rest of the so called drive mechanics wanted to give me ..... ohhh bayby i just cant wait to give you my money......... I put the new x gears in it and i have not abused it. I paid 500 for a new scratched upper case and bought new gears and i have not had problems up till this point. I really like it when i can go to a Merc service garage i can fix thier computers, tell them about the new updates on the newest drives and tell them how to set up the new gearsets that you have to shim and then they want to charge me $4400 for a upper bravo case,(not even a lower included) not even a OW or later drive and then charge me $1,000 shipping from Oshkosh to STEVENS POINT Wi which is about 60 miles and i can't wait to give them my money. And people wonder whey there are do it yourselfers out there.

first pull the drive, make sure it's not something simple like a cable, and shift it by hand and see whats there, may not be as bad as you think.

hpy - My B1 became hard to shift a few years ago. A friend suggested I pull the cap off the back of the OD and check the spring loaded detent mechanizm. I pulled the cap, removed the spring/ball thingy's, cleaned and greased everything, put it back together. And it shifted like new again.

No expert here, but might be the same thing in your case. Hope so ...... cheap and simple fix.
