Oil cooler scorpion engines ?
I have blue 377 Scorpion engines from Mercury Racing and this year I have installed oil temperature gauges.
I have noticed it takes a long time to just get oil temperatures to 120 (cruising app. 3000 RPM), and to get the temperature higher up I would need to increase the speed. Then if I start running hard I can get temperatures to app. 140-160. Highest I have seen is 180 after a long run at high speed including some WOT.
The oil temperature sensors are mounted in the bottom of the oil pans, I guess that would be the point where the oil temperature would be the highest ?
I then decided to look for the oil cooler to see if there is an oil thermostat. But guess what, I can not find an oil cooler when looking in the service manual and on the engines. I can find the power steering oil cooler and the fuel cooler, but not the oil cooler ?
Is there no oil cooler on the Scorpion engines ?
