Engine Co 454 07-28-2007, 12:11 AM Anyone here know of some boats for sale.
My Powerquest 26 Legend deal did not work out...
The Seller of a Baja 250ES took her off the market...
I am looking under 30K under 28'
Baja
Checkmate
Formula
Wellcraft
Powerquest
Sunsation
I would list some others but for the price and size I can't touch one worth owning.
sommerfliesby 07-28-2007, 10:10 AM Damn...if you were looking 2 feet bigger, Straight Jacket has connections to a 30' Velocity that would make a really solid boat with a little love...probably pick it up pretty cheap as well.
sommerfliesby 07-28-2007, 10:11 AM And not that I think of it...Ronnie is looking to sell his 25 Outlaw (the yellow one in our Poker Run)...don't know his contact info, but somebody on here probably does.

Going above 28, which is beyond my limit, storage becomes an issue. I have to fit my boat in the driveway. A 23 or 25 Outlaw fits.
Magic Medicine 07-28-2007, 10:06 PM I am thinking of listing my Checkmate ZT 280. Its a 1999 with a 500 efi. Might be a bit above your price range, let me know if your are interested. I am wanting to upgrade to a Cig. Many CPC members that know the boat can attest to how clean the boat is!

I appreciate the offer and yes it looks like a great boat. A guy in my town has the exact same boat. I will not be going over 30K however.
I found a few choices on ebay...I hate having to bid without looking though. Photos cannot replace 6 senses.
I found an 06 Baja 23 Outlaw, never titled, at a dealer in Indiana. Looking to see what kind of deal he is doing on a almost 2 season old boat. I know that will be over 30K, but I am willing to see what kind of deals/financing he can do.
We originally started looking at the 23 Outlaw last winter. If I were to buy new that is what I am looking at. It might even squeeze into my garage. The length of the trailer tongue to the tip of the drive is the big question.
Outside I think the longest I can go is a 25/26' with a trailer. I am not supposed to hang over the sidewalk. If I did it could pose problems with storage during the season. I have winter storage taken care of.

Guess I might be a bit crazy to run a 23 Outlaw in a poker run. The way the water looked this year I would not have gotten far.
MILD THUNDER 07-29-2007, 08:29 AM What about storing the boat somewhere? Assuming you are in Tinley, theres got to be a few places around that you could store one cheap, I think oso member "obnoxus" has a shop in new lenox that he may have storage available. If you plan on boating on Lake Michigan I would go for something closer to 30FT than 23ft.
496,
Sent you an e-mail.

Engine Co 454 07-31-2007, 08:29 AM Well that dealer selling the 06 Outlaw NEW in Indiana is absolutely nuts! He wants 59K on a 2 season old boat!!
I am would love a 25. I think for me it may be the best size. Just large enough and just small enough.
The seller selling his 90 Baja 250ES in Elmhurst took his off the market due to family issues. I am hoping he will change his mind.
I am looking at 4 boats now in Iowa,Wisconsin, Ohio, and Michigan. It figures they are all over 2.5hrs away.
I looked at a P.O.S. in DesPlaines this weekend, that thing was run hard and put away soaking wet.
I looked into some winter storage options and I may keep the boat outside at my wife's stepfather's farm in Pontiac? I would prefer indoors however. Finding boating season storage near TP would be a benefit.
PB more info please I am replying to your email.
sommerfliesby 07-31-2007, 09:50 AM I've seen PB (Paul)'s boat...it's really sharp!
Obnoxus' storage is in New Lenox, just south of Rte. 30 and Gougar Road.
You could also try Old Plank Road Marina at LaGrange and Nebraska St. in Frankfort...they have indoor & outdoor storage.
Mike,
Thanks for the compliment.
I try my best to maintain my little puddle jumper.
Boomer 880 07-31-2007, 01:54 PM Did you talk to Mark Miller at Grand Sports Center? They always have a good inventory of used performance boats and may know of something comming in that could meet your needs.

Nightlife1970 07-31-2007, 04:14 PM Here is a list of Baja's for sale. Lots to look at. If you can swing the size look at the older 280's. Great boat for lake Michigan and you can get them at good prices.

Engine Co 454 07-31-2007, 09:59 PM That 1990 25 Checkmate sounds like a runner!
I have not been on the Grand Sport website lately...
Jim K from GSC should have contacted me about this. I have been talking with him since last December when we were finally in a position to get a new toy. I had an 86 Mint 25k mi Vette, kept that until the first kid came along, then I had a restored 69 SS396 Chevelle. So now we are into a boat. Last December we met Jim and looked at an 06 23 Outlaw. We also looked at the 257 PQ Legend which I understand is now sold.
I will have to look at GSC website.
I am going Thursday to look at a 92 Wellcraft Nova Spyder. I know, I know this is not a "powerboat" doing only 60-62, but realistically with 2 kids on board, one 2.5yo and the other 6 weeks, when am I going to open it up? That hull though will take some good 2-3's.

You and me must look at the same boats. I have been on Boat Trader, Ebay, iBoats, and I am sure a few other places. I know some of these boats quite well. I have a ton of photos from a few of those sellers.
I will probably have to find a website for slow boaters looking at probably buying this...http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/5/5/89645855.htm

Is this Obnoxus' personal storage? I never knew about Old Plank Rd Marina. I have been to Frankfort numerous times and never heard of it. Something to look into indoor winter storage vs out at the farm.
sommerfliesby 08-01-2007, 05:41 AM Dennis (Obnoxus) owns Watson Marine...that's where the storage is.
Old Plank is literally right in front of my house. They just did a MAJOR overhaul of the building. If you know where the bike path crosses over Lagrange - funky-looking bridge - it's right there.
Engine Co 454 08-01-2007, 01:41 PM I got a buddy that owns a home on Nebraska, don't remember the address. So yea I know the area.
Engine Co 454 08-02-2007, 11:01 PM Old Plank quoted me $4 a foot up to 24'.
How is Watson Marine?
Engine Co 454 08-02-2007, 11:15 PM Well I found a boat today, should have the deal done in a week or so once the loan papers between me and the seller are done.
I bought a 92 Wellcraft 23'Nova Spyder. I know it is a heavy boat and won't exactly do 65-70 but that is ok with me. It comes with 2 props one that cruises at 55 and pulls outta the hole good, the other has more top end around 60. The weight and design of the boat allow it to handle waves some good waves. Will I want to move up, yes, but I am on the water in a safe reliable boat.
