Default Coil circuit or injector circuit on a Mefi-3

I know it is not my first question about this and I think it will also not be my last question.
Yesterday I tried my Monterey 19ft Bowrider with the 6.2 for the first time. As this far the 6.2 is the smoothest engine I ever drove.
Like almost everyone said here, it was a bit hard to get the Alpha drive with a HighFive out of gear. When started, no problem but after a while when everything came a operation tempreture, it kept sticking in gear.
What would be the effect if I make a switch between the the "-" side of the coil and the ECM? Or maybe not completly open but a resistor of about 10ohms? Would this make an interrupt? I know there is a system in the ECM that measures the coil current, but I thought it gives only alarm at too much current.
I am also thinking about the same with the injector feed.

I know a reprogrammed ECM is also an option, but the ECM are hard to find and with the reprogramming it will be a bit expensive. And there are only a few people who have the stock calibration for the 6.2MPI.
So if I can do it in a cheaper way that wouldbe great.

Thanks, Richard

Look at first small article 'Demon for Speed' here:
http://www.boatingmag.com/article.as...article_id=753

Tells you how to hook up the Alpha shift interupter to EFI engine.

I ran across this the other week and saved it for notes in case it may help someone. Hopefully it does for you.

That article assumes you have the Delco EST distributor, I believe the MEFI3 6.2 uses the Thunderbolt V distributor. But I think you could use a normally closed switch to open green/white (signal) circuit from the distributor to the ECM.

Hello,
The article is for the EST distr. I have the Thunderbolt distr.
I am afraid that if I ground the green wire the ecm sees a no running condition. And if I open the switch it think in "crankingmode"
But it is worth a try
But how do you think about the coil circuit or the injector circuit?

I think interrupting the Ignition Modules reference signal would work, but opening an injector power circuit should work too. Try it and see what happens.

Today I did some experiments for the interrupt.
I tried to ground the white/green wire, but that wasn't a big succes. The engine ran very wierd after grounding the wire a few times.
I pulled my finger in the air suck hole ath TB and the engine died slowly, but I think it is not quick enough for shifting out of gear.
So I tried the red+ wire on the coil, I didn't really open the circuit but with a resistor between it, I think it would work without the resistor but I don't like "open" circuits. Now the coil is still conected but don't get enough current to load the coil.
When switching a switch when runnig on the hose it sound like a real interrupt.
What do you think about this setup? Would lowering the coil current have any bad effects on my ecm or coil driver inside the ecm?

Today I tried it on the water and it shifts very smooth.
It shifts like a std. Alpha setup.

But I have still no idea what kind of effect it would have on the ECM, and then in the way of damage at the long term. So it would be nice if someone with some knowhow could say it would be no problem.
