Default Bulldog / 7.4L TB-V Ignition Experts; Question

I am going to be upgrading an 1996 7.4L Gen 6 carb motor (0F810161)
to a 489 stroker 10:1 CR with new AL heads and all.
I have a take off ignition module 848821 off of a 1996 Bulldog that I would like to use on this build. This is also the same module is used on the HP500 carb motors.

• Is this just a simple module swap? I see that the distributors are slightly different (Bulldog 805185A43 vs 7.4L 805185A36) but all else looks the same.
• Also is this just a simple 20* module and where is the rev limit set?
• I’m assuming that this does retain the timing assist as well, correct?

Any help would be appreciated…
Thanks,
Dave

The limiter on the 500's was 5300-5400. I can only guess it will work. I would think someone has swapped that and will respond.

I know guys that have swapped the module on 7.4s to the 454Mag. Those two engines use the same distributor though.

I think the difference is length, isn't the 540 a taller deck height?
