Default HP500 carb cam in an HP500efi ????

I am putting together an hp500efi. I have the intake injectors and wiring harness off my engine when I Whippled it. My buddy rebuilt his 2000 hp500 and has the old cam. I know they are different, but they can't be that different. So my question is would it work??

Once engine is assembled were will be using MEFIburn's system to dyno and calibrate the computer so it runs as it should. I don't see a problem with this cam.

Jeff,

The carb cam is smaller. I would actually want the correct cam or one that has been a proven upgrade.

Teague just addressed this upgrade in Powerboat in his column, "Teague on Tech". Check it out.

I read that lastnight. Teague mentioned is was "larger" but thats it. I'll price the proper cam and see if it's worth the savings.

The lobe separation is the biggest difference. They spread the lobes from 110 to 114 on the EFI cam. This allows it to work much better with the efi. You'll have a tough time getting it to idle with the hp500 cam.

Jeff,

I have 2 Crane 731 EFI roller cams for sale. 150 hours total, most of that is idle speed. Need 250.00 per cam. It is 598 int and 610 ex and I believe either 112 or 114. The cams are from Gen6 motors. PM me for more info.
