Default New York City Powerboat Poker Run 2008

Immediate Release:
January 20, 2008
.
The prestigious NEW YORK CITY POWERBOAT POKER RUN 2008 will take place on the Hudson River on Saturday, June 14th at 12:00 Noon. This Annual Boating Extravaganza, filmed and broadcast internationally, will feature over 100
“state of the art” speedboats and express cruisers in what has grown to become one of the largest boating events in America.
The who’s who of performance boats and cruisers will be there.
From 200 mph Catamarans to Luxury Express Cruisers and Yachts, all have come “on-board” to experience the thrill of running the Hudson River…New York City style!

Every fan and enthusiast is invited to view the boats and meet the teams at Liberty Landing Marina in Liberty State Park, Jersey City, NJ., adjacent to the Statue of Liberty and just opposite Manhattan’s financial district. Displays open on Friday, June 13th, 2008.

As seen on national TV, our gathering of the “Kings and Queens” of the sport has become as exciting as the run itself, with 2 parties and the poker run taking place inside a 36 hour period. This is the time to make new friends from across the nation and around the world. Contestants come from all four corners of America, Canada and Europe.

New this year will be the induction of the freshman class of The N.P.B.A “HALL OF FAME”. They are members of an elite group of racers who competed during the 70’s and 80’s on the National Powerboat Association’s Offshore Powerboat Race Circuit. It is interesting to still recognize the names of boaters who have excelled in the powerboat industry or who have made significant contributions to the sport…they started right here in the N.P.B.A.

The rally will begin at noon-time with our Patriotic Powerboat Parade up the Hudson River. We will “march” from the Statue of Liberty to the George Washington Bridge…flying our American Flags, and then unleash all of that horsepower to start the Event’s 1st leg to the Tappan Zee Bridge. The Poker Run will then continue on to Ossining Boat and Canoe Club, Haverstraw Marina and further destinations on the Hudson River. The last leg is a straight run to the finish at Liberty Landing Marina. Pleasure boating has never been so Hi-Tech and “state-of-the-art” as is seen in today’s models, nor have the boats gone as fast…from the hull designs and construction methods to the advances in engine technologies, these innovations combined equal increased efficiency and performance overall.
THAT MEANS MORE FUN!!!
The NATIONAL POWERBOAT ASSOCIATION is proud to be a part of this great American industry.

All are invited to the most exciting city in the world…

…FASTBOATS…
…FANCY WOMEN…

…a nautical spectacle of speed, glamour, and style.

Default Parade Speed Limit

There is a 10 Knot speed limit during the Parade from Liberty Landing Marina to the George Washington Bridge mandated by the Coast Guard.
After that... How faaaaaaaaaaaast can you go?
