Default 'team 26' Ready For Full-on 2009 Powerboat P1 Season

With the start of the 2009 Powerboat P1 World Championship season just over a month away, last year's late-season wildcard entry is boldly proclaiming its Supersport Class intentions for the coming year. Though British by heritage, this team's brand new boat and power package maintains a distinctly American equipment strategy.

"Team 26,' flew under the Konrad banner in a Mercury-powered Velocity during the second half of the 2008 Powerboat P1 season and stunned fans and teams alike by finishing an impressive third in their maiden race in Vigo, Spain last September. The team is set to offer more surprises this year in a new Donzi 38ZRC hull driven by twin Sterling V-8s from Detroit-area engine builder Mike D'Anniballe.

Pilot/owner Daniel Cramphorn, along with throttleman Kim Collins, returns to Powerboat P1 with extreme optimism. "The Donzi-Sterling alliance promises a lot and has already demonstrated enormous potential in the testing carried out so far," Cramphorn explains, "The outright speed is pretty awesome and I can't wait to truly unleash our baby on the competition in Malta come May."

The boat was rigged by legendary Belgian boat builder Nico Bertels and recently underwent extensive testing near his facility in Willebroek. "We have tried to leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of success," Cramphorn said, "But we know the strength of our greatly experienced competitors will be a tough match so we have an even greater challenge on our hands. We are the youngest, most enthusiastic team in P1 with a huge desire to win the championship. We've already proven that we have high potential from our wildcard events last season but know the goalposts are that much higher," Cramphorn added.

Both Cramphorn and Collins are veteran water ski racers who came to P1 after attending several races as fans. The pair is looking to share their success on the water with companies or brands willing to share that Supersport success.

Powerboat P1 launches its 2009 season the weekend of May 8-10 in the Mediterranean island nation of Malta, which will be hosting its sixth Grand Prix of the Sea, and the World Championship will then move on to Turkey, Sweden, Italy and the island Kingdom of Bahrain over the next six months.
