Default 382 Fastech...trim?

Went out on a buddy's 382 for the first time in 1-2's. Seems to really like a lot tab while cruising at 50mph, but not much at all while getting up on plane.
With me having a non step 42, it was a bit different to me.
Anyone with some running angle advise for us?
Its an 05 with 496HO's, 26" Labbed Bravo1's

382's have quite a bit of "rocker" in the bottom. I have 700nxts and at those mid range speeds I find tab is required to stop porposing. Over 75, lift the tabs and go! The hull seems to set on the rear step at higher speeds. At 95 it's solid. No walk, no tab

The 2000 and later 382's do not have strakes on the rearmost section of the hull, after the last step. I usually run 1 or 2 points of tab up to 58 mph or so. It's faster to do that and trim the drives out (about #4) that to run no tab and tuck the drives in.

I had full tabs and drives tucked in and liked the way it rode, at 45-50 then ran the drives at 5 and tabs at 6 going 65+, rode like a cadillac....again it was in a continuous 1-2' seas.
My thoughts are that this is a lot of bow down and loosing mpg.

I'm running no tab over about 40-45 and drives out just past neutral at 50. For some reason neutral for the drives is 4.5 so I can run them out to 9 for WOT passes.....I cruise 3,500 at about 55 with the drives at 5.5-6.0, no tab.
