Default 496 Mag impellar housing???

I remember reading somewhere that there is an identical pump like the one on a 496 but made of diffrent material (NON BRASS). It will work on the 496 you just have to use original brass rear plate ( with sensor) and mounting bracket. Has anyone heared of this? if so what was the brand and part number for that pump?

Thanks,
Will

Default Pump replacement

Ive seen the rebuild kit from R&R but read on a forum about a similar pump that can be bolted on by changing rear plate. Pump was signifantly less then merc pump . I have been searching all 496 water pump post but can not find it again.

Wink

To our knowledge at Raylar there currently is no water pump housing on the aftermarket to replace the Mercury brass housing, just the end plate kits and impellear replacements. Sorry

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

if you need the housing,,you might as well just buy a new pump from merc,,,150. 00 for the r&r product and 240.00 for just the housing,,new pump is 600.00

for some reason i remember reading about a similar jabsco pump with matching front half. if im not mistaken that just needed the back plate mounted to it with sensor and it would work.
